All About Miss M!

Welcome! My name is Jenni Mickelson. I am a first grade teacher in the charming town of Duvall, Washington. I tell people I have the best job in the world; I get to see such great growth in such a short time in my students.  First grade is the most amazing metamorphosis in youngsters.  Kids grow more in first grade than any other grade!

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
I graduated from Eastern Washington University in Fall 2003 with a BA in Elementary Education (K-8) and Reading (K-12).  I also minored in Mathematics. I completed my student teaching in Spokane, Washington. After graduation, I was a guest teacher for the remainder of the school year in Spokane.  The following year, I accepted a first grade teaching position at Mountain Way Elementary in the small town of Granite Falls, Washington. I taught first grade at Mountain Way for three years.  I am now excited to begin my first year at Cherry Valley Elementary as a first grade teacher!

In Fall 2005 I began my Master's program and Professional Certification through the University of Washington in Bothell, Washington.  I have taken some awesome classes that have really helped to shape my teaching. I look forward to graduation this spring!

INTERESTS:
Besides having a busy summer setting up our new classroom, I have devoted my attention to my new puppy, Callie!  She was only 6 weeks old when I got to take her home, and she is growing bigger everyday!  My favorite time of the day is taking her on walks to the park!  Besides spending time with Callie, I love to be outdoors doing a variety of activities, such as hiking or golf!  I also love to read, attend concerts, watch movies, scrapbook, and organize/clean my house! Some of my favorites are purple, pasta, and popcorn!
