Six Traits

 

Ideas Are the ideas clear and concise? Does the writing focus on the purpose or theme of the work? Are there enough details to support the theme or make the story complete?

Organization Is the story logically organized with a good "hook" at the beginning, great details in the middle, and an interested ending wrap-up ? For non-fiction, paragraphs need a topic sentence , supporting details, and closing summary sentence. Rubric for organization

Voice Does the "tone" of the writing reflect its purpose? Sometimes the tone would reflect individuality and sometimes it is business like.

Word Choice Did I make the "best" choice of words? Did I use vivid adjectives? Does your non-fiction writing use appropriate content vocabulary? Are the verbs actively painting a picture and "showing" rather than "telling." Click here for descriptive paragraph example.

Sentence Fluency Do my sentences "flow?" Are there a variety of short and long sentences. Does my writing have a kind of rhythm?

Conventions

***Capitols are placed correctly

***Understanding- The sentences are complete and clear. No ***fragments or run-on sentences.

***Punctuation are correctly done. Ending marks, commas, ***apostrophes, quotation marks

***Spelling is correct.
