Schedule: Fitness: 10:00-10:30 Tues. and Thursday Technology: 9:30-10:30 Friday Music: 10:00-10:30 Monday and Wednesday LRC (Library) 10:30-11:00 Thursday When you need to take a student out of school early, it is very difficult for the office to find them. Please have all requests for early release given to the office by noon. New bus passes and releases will go much more smoothly if you can help us out in this way. If you want your student to have a snack, please send them with one. I discourage trading of snack and encourage student responsibility to remember to bring their own. Please make the snack a sugar-free and healthy item.
CELEBRATIONS: Occasionally we will have a celebration. We may celebrate learning or behavioral successes with special events-movies, games. I choose activities that have academic benefits and connections as well. Sometimes they are spontaneous and sometimes planned. Celebrations can build a positive class environment and positive connections among the classmates. I recognize and honor the variety of traditions represented in the class. Please talk to me about special accommodations.
District policy discourages celebrations with food. If you want to bring a treat, please send non-food treats, like pencil toppers, art supplies or such. We celebrate birth weeks by having your child read their "all about Me" poster. BEHAVIOR ISSUES: The students will design their classroom "Bill of Rights." Most students have understanding of the rights and responsibilities of members of our classroom. In third grade, students begin to expand their understanding. I take misbehaviors as an opportunity for learning problem solving skills. I follow the tenets of "Love and Logic " . If I find that our efforts are not successful and a student repeats a misbehavior often, I will contact you to help us work more effectively. I might just send you an FYI email. The goal is to help the student be responsible for their own choices. |
